Disarmament Fellowship Position, 2019.

Position description: The Disarmament and Security Centre (DSC) is offering one DSC Disarmament Fellowship position to a New Zealand student (or recent graduate) between September 2019 and July 2020. The position entails 100 paid training hours ($20 per hour) with DSC staff and associated disarmament experts and representing the DSC at a disarmament and non-proliferation conference in the Pacific (hosted by Pacific Forum). The DSC will cover agreed travel and accommodation costs for this conference, in accordance with a budget and project plan to be developed jointly by the Fellow and the DSC.

Location: Hanoi, Vietnam

Dates: 2nd - 5th December, 2019

Training Details:

Location: Christchurch, DSC Office

Dates: To begin ideally in September 2019 with a work plan to be developed between theDSC Fellow and DSC Staff.

Position purpose: The purpose of the DSC Fellowship is to provide professional disarmament experience for a young New Zealander, to help build their capacity in this field and ideally benefit their studies, or help as a stepping stone into a disarmament-related career. The successful candidate will have 100 hours paid ($20 per hour) training time with DSC staff and related professionals, as well as networking with a range of professionals at the Pacific Forum conference.

Other details:

Ideally, the successful candidate will need to be available to travel to the Pacific Forum Conference being held December 2019, however if this date is not possible, for the right candidate there may be the opportunity to attend the next Pacific Forum conference in 2020 – dates and location TBC. Ideally, the successful candidate will be Canterbury based, however we are open to applicants from around the country if there is the possibility for the candidate to travel to Christchurch for some training hours.
