15,000 nuclear weapons. This is the nuclear arsenal millennials inherited. We are told that nuclear weapons are a problem from the past. They are not. In this unexpected talk, Clare exposes us to the risks, humanitarian and environmental consequences that we all live with, and just some of the nuclear near misses and mishaps. All countries have a role to play in nuclear disarmament the younger generations have to decide: do we want to live free from the real dangers of nuclear weapons?

Clare Conboy has been with The Acronym Institute for Disarmament Diplomacy since February 2015. She has been worked as part of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) at the UN and with ICAN UK on their campaign Nukes of Hazard, which highlights the dangers of transporting nuclear weapons on Britain's roads. She has a double degree in Fine Art Sculpture and the History of Art from the National College of Art & Design, Dublin. She has worked in Spain, the UK and Ireland in communications and campaigning.This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
